MTA Library Side Trip

Side Trip - MTA Library

Side Trip!

If you’re really interested in transportation, particularly its role in Los Angeles through the years, consider taking a look at the Metro Library (our abbreviation). Allow 20 minutes or more, depending on your interests. The views alone can make the trip worthwhile.

The MTA Library is open to the public on Mondays and Thursdays only, between 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

–> Take the escalators up two levels to the third floor Reception Desk.

The 60,000-volume library is up on the 15th floor of this building and you’ll need to register with the Reception Desk on the third floor to gain access.

Books, maps, magazines, drawings, new and historical photos, train models, souvenir buttons – if it has anything to do with transportation, it’s probably here for your reference; the library is non-circulatory for the public.

And the views? Some of the best in the city, particularly of downtown to the west and Chinatown and beyond to the north.

–> Return to the Reception Level to resume the tour.
